Below is your summer assignment. Remember, while you do not have read CliffsAP Language over the summer, you must bring it to class the first day of school.
Assignment #1 Read Jay Heinrich's, Thank You For Arguing.... Complete informational reading protocol (IRP) with at least 2-3 marks & comments per page. As you complete the assigned reading, post at least one of your IRP comments each week. Respond to at least one peer comment and reply to someone's comment about your post.
Assignment # 2 Read Rhetorical Devices: A Handbook and Activities for Student Writing Complete the activities in the handbook.

Option #1:
Watch one of the following (HBO Movie "Too Big to Fail", a presidential address/speech by President Obama, or a debate from the republic primaries). Identify a major argument present in the film/speech/debate. Critique the film/speaker's use and strength of appeals to logos, pathos, or ethos. Take a position on the argument. Post your critique and argument on to the blog. Respond to at least two peer comments and reply to someone's comment about your post.
